Ford just dropped the covers on what might be the most serious factory ute Australia’s ever seen—the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty. And no, it’s not just a Ranger with a tough name. This thing’s been built from the ground up to go toe-to-toe with the big boys: 4.5T towing, 4T GVM, 8T GCM, and enough grunt to make a RAM sweat. - Let’s get into it!

What the Hell Is a Ranger Super Duty?

Think of it as Ford’s answer to every tradie, tourer, or fleet manager who’s ever thought “I love the Ranger, but I need more.”

The Super Duty takes the bones of the best-selling Ranger and beefs everything up—chassis, suspension, braking, you name it. It runs a modified version of the 3.0L turbo-diesel V6 (184kW/600Nm) from the current Ranger lineup, backed by Ford’s 10-speed auto, but with cooling and hardware upgrades to handle the extra punishment.

4500kg Towing from Factory—No BTC Required

The headline figure? 4,500kg braked towing capacity, right out of the box. That’s F-150, Silverado, and RAM 1500 territory. No aftermarket upgrades. No dodgy BTC hacks. No dramas with compliance.

On top of that, you get:

Spec

Ranger Super Duty

GVM

4500kg

GCM

8000kg

Fuel Tank

130L

Wheels/Tyres

18” 8-stud with 33” A/T

Track Width

Raptor-sized (2028mm)

Needless to say, this isn’t just a sticker pack.

Built to Work – Not Just Flex

This isn’t a show pony. The Super Duty is clearly built with fleets, tradies, miners, and serious tourers in mind.

  • Scales in each corner to show real-time payload

  • Smart hitch system to help balance your trailer’s downball weight

  • Manual DPF burn button, so you don’t get stuck doing a regen halfway up Big Red

  • Vinyl floors, because you’re gonna get dirty

  • Mod-ready dash mount for tablets, laptops, and accessories

Honestly, it’s the kind of thinking we love seeing in a factory platform.

Raptor Looks, Heavy Duty Guts

Visually, it shares some cues with the Raptor—like the track width and tyre size—but it’s clearly a different beast. It’s got:

  • Bespoke front grille and steel bumper

  • Variant-specific stamped bonnet

  • Wide-body guards

  • Towing-specific mirrors

  • Bigger ride height and longer footprint than the Raptor

And before you ask—yep, there’ll be single-, extra-, and dual-cab cab chassis options first. Pickup variants will roll out later in 2026.

Will It Replace the Need for a Full-Size Yank Tank?

Let’s be real: if you’re shopping for a RAM 1500 or Silverado 1500 just for the numbers, the Ranger Super Duty might be the smarter buy. It’ll tow the same, haul more, and actually fit in the Bunnings car park.

Plus, it’ll come with all the safety gear we expect these days—AEB, adaptive cruise, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, the lot.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t just a tougher Ranger. The 2026 Ranger Super Duty is Ford putting the rest of the ute world on notice. It’s the first time we’ve seen this level of payload, towing, and practicality baked into a one-tonner straight from the factory.

We don’t have pricing yet, but if Ford plays it smart and lands this thing under the cost of a RAM or Silverado, they’ve got a winner on their hands.

Would we build one? Absolutely. And we reckon a GVM + touring fit-out could make this the most versatile ute in the country.
