When we first laid eyes on our brand-new 2024 Ford F-150 Lariat, we knew it was more than just a vehicle—it was an invitation to adventure. So, Brent and Dave decided to christen this beast by taking it on an epic two-day road trip from Adelaide to Brisbane. Spanning over 2,000 kilometers of Australia's diverse landscapes, this journey was the perfect test for our new ride and an excellent way to experience the Ford F-150 in Australia.
Brent and Dave hit the road early, with the Ford F-150's powerful engine purring with excitement. The adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist were godsends on the long, straight stretches of the highway. As they left the charming city of Adelaide behind, they were greeted by the vast open spaces of the outback. The F-Truck handled the transition from city streets to rugged terrain effortlessly.
The new suspension made the vehicle feel more planted on the highways and sturdy on the rougher sections. The comfortable front seats offered more support compared to the RAM 1500. Fuel consumption was impressive, hitting a low of 12L/100km thanks to the V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel ecomony or rather lack of was a big drawback in the RAM 1500. Thankfully the F-150’s large fuel tank meant fewer stops, allowing us to cover more ground. We were also quite impressed with the stereo system, providing a perfect soundtrack for the journey. The only downside of the F-150 Lariat was the turning circle, which wasn’t as great compared to the RAM 1500, making parking and U-turns a little tricky.
Our road trip from Adelaide to Brisbane in the Ford F-150 was nothing short of epic. The truck's combination of power, comfort, and advanced features made every kilometer enjoyable. Whether we were cruising through the outback or navigating city streets, the F-150 proved to be the perfect companion. The next big test for the Ford F-150 will be towing the caravan.
